How SHIFT Design handles the information you share with us.

Overview
SHIFT Design (“we,” “us”) is a print and design business in Buffalo, Minnesota. This policy explains what we collect when you use shiftdesignmn.com, request a quote or chat with us, and what we do with it. The short version: we use your information to answer you and do your project, and we don’t sell it.
What you give us
- Quote and contact forms. Your name, email, phone number, project details and any files you attach. Your request is emailed to us, and attached files are stored privately with Cloudflare so we can open them.
- Design studio. What you type into the design studio, the choices you make, and the logo and photos you add. See Design studio below.
- Website chat. What you type into the chat on our homepage, any photos you add, and any contact details you choose to share. See Website chat below.
- Newsletter. Your email address, if you join our occasional print tips and deadlines email from the site footer.
- Email and phone. Anything you send us directly.
What’s collected automatically
Like most websites, ours records basic visit information: pages viewed, the site that sent you, your browser and device type, and a rough location based on your internet connection. We use Google Analytics and Cloudflare Web Analytics to see which pages help people. Google Analytics uses cookies; Cloudflare Web Analytics does not. Our quote forms also use Cloudflare Turnstile, a quick check that keeps spam bots out.
Website chat
The chat on our homepage is an AI assistant that helps you put together a project brief. Your messages are sent to Anthropic, the company that makes the Claude AI model, to write the replies. We keep a copy of each conversation for 30 days so we can review it and follow up. Once you share an email address or phone number in the chat, the conversation and any files you add are emailed to us so we can get back to you, even if you never send the finished brief. Please don’t share sensitive personal information in the chat.
Design studio
The design studio uses Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic, to suggest designs. What you type, the choices you make, the logo and photos you add, and a picture of the design so far are sent to Anthropic to make them. To keep the AI free for everyone, each visitor gets 5 AI requests a day. We count them with a scrambled code made from your internet address and the date. The address itself isn't stored, and the count is deleted within two days. Your draft is kept in your own browser for 30 days, and Start over clears it sooner. When you send a design for a quote, the design, its layout file and the files you add are stored privately with Cloudflare and emailed to us so we can quote and print it.
Town suggestions and calculator specs
The “Find your town” box on our homepage can guess your town from the approximate location Cloudflare reads from your internet connection. It never asks for your device’s precise location, and we don’t store IP addresses or locations from it. If there’s no match, it just shows our general service area.
If you pick your town, the choice stays in this browser for 30 days. Use “Clear” in the same box to remove it.
When you click “Use these specs in my quote” on a calculator, its inputs and results are kept in that browser tab for up to two hours so the quote form can show them. Files and contact details are not included. You can edit or remove the specs before sending, and they reach us only when you submit the form. Our analytics may record that the button was used, but not your numbers.
Our other calculators and file checkers, like the logo file inspector, run entirely in your browser. Files you check with them are not uploaded to us.
How we use your information
- To answer your questions and prepare quotes
- To design, print, install and deliver what you order
- To keep in touch about your project, and to send our newsletter if you joined it
- To keep the site secure, stop spam and improve our pages
Who we share it with
We don’t sell your personal information. We share it only as needed to run the business:
- Print, production and shipping partners, with the project details and files needed to make and deliver your order.
- Service providers that run parts of our website and email for us: Cloudflare (hosting, security, file storage and analytics), Google (Analytics), Resend (sending our emails) and Anthropic (the website chat and design studio).
- When the law requires it, or to protect our rights or someone’s safety.
Cookies and your choices
Google Analytics sets cookies to tell visits apart. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or use Google’s Analytics opt-out add-on. The site works fine without them. Our site doesn’t respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals.
How long we keep it
We keep quote requests, project emails and files as long as we need them to do your work, handle reorders and keep normal business and tax records. Saved chat conversations are deleted after 30 days. You can leave the newsletter at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email, or by asking us.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we have about you. Email quotes@shiftdesignmn.com and we’ll take care of it, keeping only what we must for legal or tax reasons.
Security
The whole site runs over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and the files you upload are stored privately and sent only to us. No way of sending or storing information online is perfect, so please don’t send card numbers or passwords through our forms or chat.
Children
Our site is meant for businesses and organizations and isn’t directed to children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
